Harry Potter Puppies Should Be July 2010 Home Ready

[News]

I am very proud to announce the future breeding of our lovely Poppet to Patrick, a handsome and charming Golden boy recently imported to America from Austria! Happily both Poppet and Patrick complement each other nicely in type and structure. Her personality is soft and easy going but very eager to please. Poppet can fly when she is in her “play” mode chasing about with our doggie crew from our Newfoundlands to our pug puppy Charlie. Poppet’s favorite entertainment is chasing bubbles we blow for her in the yard! She jumps and leaps to catch those that fly up into the air and pounces on those that stick to the lawn. She is known to run into our garage and remove the bubble bottle from the shelf and drop it at our feet. Poppet was bred last year to Dalton and produced our MAGIG theme litter. Those puppies are all doing well in their appointed homes. Poppy proved to be a doting mom. WE can only expect more of the same with our Harry Potter theme litter.

About Patrick, this is a write up his owners Marybeth & Wendy sent me 7/25/09 as follows:

Summary:

Patrick received his CCA (Certificate of Conformation Assessment) on September 25th, 2008 at the Golden Retriever National Specialty. He was 20 months at that time.
At 29 months Patrick finished his Canadian Championship in two weekends, getting all his points in three shows. He also took Best of Opposite 4 times and twice over a specialty winning male.

As of now (age 2 ½) Patrick is a moderately sized dog measuring 23 inches and weighing about 75 pounds. We do expect he will continue to mature; therefore his weight is likely to increase.

Patrick has a beautiful English head, proper ear set and good depth of muzzle. His pigment is very dark. He boasts a correct shoulder layback with excellent forechest, has nice tight feet, a good topline and tailset. His rear is strong and he moves very well.

Patrick’s coat is beautiful with correct texture and is cream in color.

What we would like to see improve in Patrick is he turns out slightly on his front left. However, this appears to be straightening out quite nicely as he matures. We hope and expect it will continue to do so during the maturing process.

Patrick has a very stable temperament. He gets along well with all the dogs in our home, including two other stud dogs. He is not all that submissive, however, he has never been one to start or join in any disagreements.

Something we love is Patrick’s sense of humor. He is incredibly silly and fun to be with. He can be cuddly and loving, but is not needy or too pushy for attention.

A dedicated retriever, Patrick is rarely seen without something in his mouth. He is insistent on playing retrieve games as often as possible. He has good excellent retrieving drive, but is able to turn off when asked.

Health-wise, Patrick has not had any issues as of yet. He swims almost daily and we had not had any hot spots or ear issues. So far…so good!

Overall, we feel Patrick is a well-balanced (physically and emotionally) and even tempered dog.

Patrick has three litters on the ground and one on the way. The first litter is over 6 months of age and the second is about 3 months of age and the third was just whelped two weeks ago. Another litter is due the end of August. Bitches from different backgrounds are being bred to Patrick, from completely English pedigrees to almost completely American.

I am so excited about our Patrick x Poppet planned breeding. Both Golden’s are of English lines that marry up when combined to some very historic and significant greats of the past! Both Christopher and Toffer are just a sampling of the old world charm this breeding will connect on. Fun too is the theme we have chosen, I think it is fitting for this litter, Harry Potter.
I am actively seeking quality homes for our Harry Potter kids. It is my aim to have most of the litter spoken for long before we breed our couple. If you fancy the idea of a Harry Potter witch or wizard Golden puppy, please continue on and complete our on line pet puppy application. All Marithyme Goldens and our puppies are fed a raw diet of meat and bones since 1994 and we have followed Dr Jean Dodds vaccine protocol since 1988. More than what genetics and lines make up a breeding, a healthy diet and a strong immune system along with proper care involving socializing and daily nurturing and attention help insure each individual puppy’s needs are met and recognized. This only comes from breeding on a small scale as is usually the case with hobby breeders.
If your plan is to wait until I announce our puppies birth before completing our puppy application, chances are the puppies will have been all spoken for. If this litter is tempting, you should come and meet our girls and see for yourself, the proof is in the pudding!
