“ No Landlubbers here, only the saltiest of Dogs!” ™

Marithyme was established in 1980 in NY as a small hobby kennel. I began my dog involvement with the Golden Retriever. In 1983 our family moved to Southern California. It was there things took shape with my Golden breeding, rescue, boarding & grooming.

All of this time I along with my young sons had always admired the Newfoundland. Though it would have been right up our alley to purchase a Newfi, my feeling was the So. Cal. climate was too warm for a double coated large dog. So we all became accustom to admiring the Newfi at dog shows and talked about them on our long car rides home. I promised my sons that once we lived in a cooler climate we would make plans to introduce the Newfoundland to Marithyme.

In the fall of 1997 our family again relocated this time to New England and once we were established and set up in our new home, I started to seriously consider purchasing a foundation bitch to begin my Newfoundland line. This became a reality in the winter of 2003. We picked up our Newfoundland hopeful baby girl from Logan Airport in Boston shipping her from Canada. Our long awaited dream come true.

Today Jetty our Newfi gal, has completed all her breeding clearances and then some (CHIC AWARDED) along with having wonderful conformation & a lovely personality and temperament. My hope is to produce puppies of quality and excellence coupling Jetty with stud dogs of equal qualities to build my Marithyme Newfoundland foundation as I did with our Golden Retrievers. No small task but a labor of love!

As of this writing Jetty became an AKC CHIC awarded Newfoundland bitch, was successfully bred to Splash last summer (2007) and produced our first Newfie litter made up of 3 male/3 female; the Exploration litter. We kept my pick bitch puppy, our Puddles and hope she will walk in her dam's paw prints and make us equally happy! We are repeating that breeding shortly and are currently interviewing prospective Newfie owners.
